Webinar recording: Finding and using public records to cover immigration enforcement

We heard from many of our grantees and other reporters that it’s increasingly difficult to get records to cover U.S. immigration enforcement actions. So we partnered with Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) to host a webinar to provide resources, tools and tips, and the full recording is now available to watch.

The one-hour session includes information about data that already exists and how journalists can access it, as well as information on how to obtain data and records from federal, state and local agencies. Speakers include:

  • Gunita Singh, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press
  • Sarah Cohen, Deportation Data Project
  • Francisco Vara-Orta, IRE
  • Nicole Foy, ProPublica

The session was moderated by Ellen Weiss, board president of the Fund for Investigative Journalism.
