For a series of in-depth reports in National Catholic Reporter, and with support from the Fund, investigative journalist Jason Berry is examining the continued toll of reported sexual abuse in the Catholic Church in Louisiana. His ongoing series looks at the legal and emotional impact of the New Orleans Archdiocese’s bankruptcy filing on hundreds of people who say they were abused by clergy when they were children. For stories in the series, Berry profiled a man who was fired from his volunteer post and forced into litigation when he confided details of his childhood abuse the archbishop. In another, Berry spoke with half-brothers who were convicted of murdering a priest they say molested them as boys.
