With support from the Fund, Gabrielle Russon obtained 700 pages of depositions from a civil lawsuit stemming from the Walt Disney Company’s battle with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in recent years. The dispute arose after Disney leaders spoke out against a state law in Florida restricting discussion of LGBT issues in schools. Depositions of three key Disney executives show that the Disney hired a powerhouse law firm that had done extensive business with the DeSantis Administration, and the firm wanted to conceal its work for Disney. The depositions also reveal the extent to which Disney slowed down expansion of its Florida theme parks during the dispute.
