A team from Univision, with support from the Fund, traveled to Michigan, North Carolina and Florida and outfitted farmworkers with silicone wristbands developed by a lab to detect up to 75 types of pesticides. Patricia Clarembaux, Federica Narancio and Esther Poveda also interviewed experts, advocates and farmworkers. They uncovered harrowing stories of pesticide exposure, including one worker who experienced serious burns and one who developed cancer. The team produced two short documentaries and a multimedia story in English and Spanish that was co-published by Investigate Midwest.
