As part of a larger series about the future of hemp in North Carolina, The Assembly investigated hemp products sold in the state. With support from the Fund, a team of reporters purchased 21 intoxicating hemp products from retailers across the state and subjected them to independent testing. They found that 13 had unsafe levels of bacteria and other substances, five contained more THC than state and federal law allows and one had 34 times more THC than advertised.
