Several grantees recently received awards for stories they produced with grants and other support from the Fund, including:
- NPR’s Station Investigations Team, Columbia Journalism Investigations, the Ohio Newsroom and WVXU received a first-place award from the National Headliner Awards for their investigation of prosecutorial misconduct in Ohio.
- The Maine Monitor received a New England Newspaper and Press Association Award for Samantha Hogan’s investigation of the states probate court system.
- In addition, Hogan was named a finalist for Livingston Award for the series.
- Grist received a Sigma Award for data journalism for Naveena Sadasivam and Clayton Aldern’s investigation of a Koch-owned chemical plant in Texas that manipulated readings of toxic emissions.
- Lynzy Billing won an Izzy Award for environmental reporting for her reporting for Inside Climate News and New Lines Magazine on the environmental and health impact of the U.S. war in Afghanistan.
- WLRN News in South Florida won Investigative Reporters and Editors’ top award for audio investigations by large newsrooms for its reporting on Dade County’s guardianship program.
- New Hampshire Public Radio senior reporter Lauren Chooljian received the Podcast Academy’s award for Best Reporting at the group’s annual Awards for Excellence in Audio, commonly known as the Ambies, for her podcast investigation of sexual abuse at a substance abuse rehabilitation facility.
